The successful migration of the Digital India BHASHINI Division’s language AI platform to an Indian cloud environment marks a significant advancement in local technological capabilities. This transition, executed by Yotta Data Services, took approximately two to three months, ensuring that all operations now utilize Indian cloud and GPU infrastructure. The migration was prominently featured at a pre-summit event leading up to the India AI Impact Summit 2026.
During the recent Maha Kumbh 2025, BHASHINI showcased its services, providing translation and voice assistance in over 11 languages. The platform effectively managed real-time requests from a large audience, further demonstrating its capabilities. The comprehensive migration included the transfer of more than 200 terabytes of data and over 3.5 billion files, all accomplished without data loss.
Equipped with Yotta’s Shakti Cloud and powered by Nvidia H100 GPUs, the platform's architecture is built on open-source and cloud-agnostic components. Amitabh Nag, CEO of the Digital India BHASHINI Division, emphasized that this migration enhances control and scalability, enabling the delivery of inclusive multilingual services. This transformation is expected to serve as a model for future deployments, reinforcing the framework's adaptability across various governmental sectors.
