Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced plans for a Quantum Computing initiative during the opening of the IBM AI GovTech Innovation Centre in Lucknow. He stressed a collaborative effort among the state government, IBM, and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur to enhance technological advancements in this field, reflecting the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Adityanath expressed confidence in Uttar Pradesh's capabilities, citing its historical ties and institutional strengths as crucial for pursuing Quantum Computing. He mentioned the significance of previous partnerships, such as the MATTECH project with IIT Kanpur, which supports the state's ambitions in technology. Additionally, he pointed out the operation of nearly 70 Centres of Excellence in various sectors, highlighting their contributions to health and technology.
Looking ahead, Adityanath indicated that IIT Kanpur is prepared to help establish a Quantum Computing facility in Noida. He urged collaborative efforts, stating that the Uttar Pradesh government is ready to support this initiative. Moreover, he noted the impact of Artificial Intelligence on governance, illustrating its role in addressing educational dropout rates through data-driven insights.
