Amazon has launched a preview of OpenAI’s models on its Bedrock platform, responding swiftly to OpenAI’s new partnership with Microsoft. This release comes less than a day after OpenAI moved away from its exclusive cloud agreement with Microsoft, a shift that has been highly anticipated by customers.
AWS CEO Matt Garman emphasized the demand for OpenAI's models on AWS, highlighting that many customers rely on AWS for their production applications and data security. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman participated in the event through a recorded message, referring to the significant opportunities that are unfolding immediately.
The collaboration has introduced new offerings such as Amazon Bedrock Managed Agents, which are powered by OpenAI, and the availability of OpenAI’s Codex coding tool for AWS users. According to Denise Dresser, OpenAI’s chief revenue officer, enterprise clients are now moving beyond experimentation with AI, seeking robust models within a reliable infrastructure.
This development follows a substantial $50 billion investment agreement between Amazon and OpenAI established earlier this year, setting the stage for a long-term collaboration expected to exceed $100 billion in cloud services.
