Starting today, Google is offering several artificial intelligence features for Gmail without requiring a subscription for personal accounts. Previously available only to Google AI Pro or Ultra subscribers, features such as “Help Me Write” are now accessible to all users in the United States, with a plan for global release soon.
The “Help Me Write” tool allows users to draft entire emails based on prompts, with options to Refine messages by formalizing, elaborating, or shortening them. Users can access these features on web, Android, and iOS platforms through an AI spark icon. Additionally, Gmail is enhancing the tool with improved personalization that utilizes context from other Google applications.
Another new feature, Suggested Replies, builds on Smart Replies by incorporating user context and writing style, enabling more tailored responses. For instance, this feature can suggest replies based on the tone of a conversation, making it easier to respond in a consistent manner. Furthermore, an AI Overview card may summarize key points when users open lengthy email threads.
