The newly launched open beta of Amazon Ads' Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server marks a significant step in AI integration with advertising technology. This development was revealed at the IAB Annual Leadership Meeting and is designed to facilitate AI platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini in accessing Amazon's advertising APIs through natural language prompts.
The MCP Server functions as a translation layer, converting conversational inputs into structured API calls. Paula Despins, VP of Ads Measurement at Amazon Ads, highlighted its role in improving campaign management and reporting, underscoring the trend toward automation within digital advertising. Marketers can anticipate improved efficiency and precision in their advertising strategies as a result.
At present, the MCP implementation includes only the “Tools” component, with additional features such as Resources and Prompts slated for future updates. Hector AI, an Amazon Ads partner from India, has developed its own solution to complement this standard, enhancing the advertising workflow with its proprietary intelligence layer. Founder Meher Patel noted the importance of this launch for establishing a standardized connection to Amazon's ad platform, emphasizing the need for an intelligence layer that can provide actionable insights.
