Amazon announced an expansion of its health care virtual assistant, Health AI, which will soon be accessible to most users on its app and website. Previously restricted to One Medical members, the rollout aims to reach all customers across the United States within the coming weeks.
This AI tool is designed to respond to general health inquiries and offers personalized wellness guidance based on individual health histories and medications. Users can share their medical records for tailored advice. Health AI also facilitates prescription refills through Amazon Pharmacy and connects users to One Medical doctors via various appointment types.
Despite its potential, the use of AI for health advice has raised concerns regarding accuracy and the sensitivity of personal information. Amazon assures that Health AI is HIPAA-compliant and serves solely as a support tool, not a substitute for professional medical care. Users are advised to verify AI-generated health advice with their health care providers.
