X is introducing a new feature called Collaborative Notes, aiming to enhance the process of writing Community Notes. This initiative allows human contributors to request AI-generated notes, which can then be refined through community feedback. The company has previously trialed AI in Community Notes, with over 1,000 helpful notes attributed to AI contributions in past programs.
Keith Coleman, overseeing Community Notes, indicated that the AI designated for this task will be Grok. He mentioned that the feature intends to improve the note creation process, enabling contributors to rate and suggest edits in real time. Currently, only Community Note Contributors with top writer status can initiate these collaborative notes, although the company plans to broaden access in the future.
This development comes as a response to criticisms regarding the speed of publishing notes, with expectations that integrating AI will streamline the workflow. Coleman emphasized that this approach not only enhances efficiency but also aids in continuous learning for AI models based on community interactions.
