YouTube Music is currently testing a redesigned Now Playing screen on Android and iOS, following over a year of A/B testing that began last November. The updated interface introduces icons for the “Song” and “Video” switcher, enhancing clarity compared to previous iterations that simplified it to a single button.
Significant changes include the removal of the Lyrics and Related tabs, with Lyrics functionality now integrated into the carousel. The app also features a new dual-pane view, allowing users to see both controls and the queue simultaneously. While the progress bar has been rounded and modified for scrubbing, the overall layout remains similar, with no rearrangement of the carousel.
This redesign has been made available to more users recently, but a full rollout is still pending. The adjustments are aimed at modernizing the app's appearance while maintaining familiar elements for users.
