A feature allowing WhatsApp group members to share recent chat history with newly added participants is now being tested by select users on TestFlight. This capability enables sharing of up to 100 messages from the last 14 days, facilitating smoother onboarding for newcomers in group conversations.
As discovered by WABetaInfo, when a user adds a new member to a group, an option appears to share these recent messages, which are highlighted in a distinct color for easy identification. This function not only enhances communication but also maintains transparency, as a notification is sent to all group members indicating which messages were shared and by whom.
Although currently in beta, the feature employs end-to-end encryption, ensuring that shared messages remain secure. While there is no specific timeline for a broader launch, it is also being tested on Android, suggesting an impending official release.
