Threads has introduced a new feature called Live Chats, enabling users to engage in real-time group discussions during significant live events, such as sports games. This innovative tool combines elements of traditional group chats with trending topics, allowing participants to communicate through messages, photos, videos, and links.
Currently, only a select group of creators and Community Champions can initiate these chats, making them publicly accessible even after the live session concludes. Once a user joins a chat, they can react with emojis, watch ongoing conversations, and participate in polls, even if the chat reaches capacity.
To set up a Live Chat, eligible hosts can use the three-dot menu in their Community to schedule the session, assign a name, and determine a time frame. They can also promote their chats via their Threads feed and Instagram Stories, ensuring visibility among users. Live Chats will be prominently featured at the top of communities, like NBA Threads, allowing easy access from the Messages tab.
