Spotify has introduced a new ticket reservation system called “Reserved by Spotify,” aimed at helping superfans secure concert tickets before they become available to the general public. This initiative allows the platform to reserve two tickets per superfan for select artists, enhancing access for dedicated listeners.
To qualify as a superfan, Spotify Premium subscribers aged 18 and older will be considered based on undisclosed criteria that takes into account user engagement metrics such as streams and shares. This new feature is expected to incentivize users to engage more actively with the app.
Notifications regarding ticket offers will be sent to eligible users, who can view these offers on the app. The sales will begin through Ticketmaster and will be limited to events managed by Live Nation, which oversees numerous venues and promotions across North America.
As ticket prices continue to soar and the buying experience remains challenging, Spotify's partnership with Live Nation aims to address some of the frustrations prevalent in the ticketing industry. Users will have approximately one day to claim tickets once their reservation window opens.
