Spotify is enhancing its user experience with the introduction of the Taste Profile feature, enabling personalized customization of content. Announced by co-CEO Gustav Söderström during SXSW, this feature is currently in beta and will soon be accessible to Premium users in New Zealand.
The Taste Profile provides insights into listening habits and includes a prompt for users to refine their recommendations. Users can specify preferences, such as seeking upbeat songs for workouts or news podcasts for commutes, while also having the option to exclude genres they dislike. Spotify reassured users that this feature is optional and that they can continue using the service as they have been.
This launch follows the earlier rollout of the Prompted Playlist feature, which allows users to create playlists based on specific requests, like songs from a particular TV show. Both features began testing in New Zealand before expanding to broader markets such as the US and Canada.
