Prime Video has introduced a new vertical video feature called Clips, which is now available in its iPhone app. This rollout is part of a broader trend among streaming platforms to embrace vertical video formats, a move that has gained momentum since the popularity of TikTok. Following the recent launch of similar features by Disney+ and Netflix, Prime Video aims to enhance user engagement through this innovative video display.
The Clips feature allows users to access a scrollable feed of short-form videos, initially tested during NBA coverage. Now, it includes highlights from various movies and series within the Prime Video library. To utilize the feature, users can simply scroll down to the Clips carousel on the app's home page and select a clip to enter a full-screen viewing mode.
While the feature is currently available to select customers in the United States on iOS, Android, and Fire tablets, a complete rollout is expected by summer. Users may need to update their app to access Clips, and the availability of third-party content through this feature remains uncertain.
