Users of WhatsApp can now look forward to a new feature enabling direct document uploads to Meta AI, marking a significant enhancement to its functionality. Currently, file support for Meta AI has been limited to image uploads from the iPhone's gallery or newly taken photos within the chat.
As reported by WABetaInfo, the new capability is being rolled out to select beta testers through the latest WhatsApp beta version for iOS, specifically build 26.20.10.72. This addition allows users to share documents directly, which can enhance the accuracy of information retrieved by the AI. The document-sharing option appears in the in-chat attachment menu, streamlining the process by eliminating the need for screenshots or text copying.
This feature, which has also begun rolling out on the Android version, is expected to improve interactions by providing contextually relevant answers. Users can now share files containing questions or problems for step-by-step assistance from Meta AI. However, WABetaInfo notes that access is currently limited, with broader availability anticipated in the coming weeks.
