HBO's upcoming fourth season of House of the Dragon is confirmed to be its final installment, with showrunner Ryan Condal collaborating with writers on episode counts. The network head, Casey Bloys, highlighted the importance of both Condal and author George R.R. Martin in the production, despite recent tensions regarding adaptations from the original books.
Bloys acknowledged that while Martin has expressed dissatisfaction with some of Condal's creative decisions, he still views Martin as a valuable partner. He noted that the first two seasons of the series received positive feedback on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating a successful adaptation thus far.
Martin has shifted his focus to the upcoming A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms project, leading to less involvement in the third season of House of the Dragon. Although Bloys did not clarify whether Martin would participate in the fourth season, he emphasized that the concluding season aims to provide a fitting resolution to the Targaryen narrative.
