Disney has initiated a significant update for its streaming platforms, introducing three new features today aimed at enhancing the integration between Disney+ and Hulu. Users can now link their Hulu profiles to Disney+, allowing for synchronized watch histories, watchlists, and personalized recommendations. In a notable shift, Hulu subscribers can stream content via the Disney+ app even without a Disney+ account, thanks to a unified MyDisney login.
Additionally, users can now select new Hulu-themed avatars within the Disney+ app, expanding the existing selection that includes Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars options. Disney also revealed plans to test a new 'Live Guide' feature, designed to simplify access to live content, featuring streams like “ABC News Live” and ESPN networks for eligible users.
While the integration continues, Disney has assured that the Hulu app will remain operational for the time being. Future enhancements, including Live TV and other Hulu features, are expected to be rolled out to Disney+ later. The prospect of a combined Disney+ 'super app' remains a topic of speculation as these updates unfold.
