Ubisoft has confirmed the restoration of Rainbow Six Siege X after a significant security breach that led to the game being offline for more than 24 hours. The incident involved hackers who accessed the game's servers, resulting in players reportedly receiving up to 2 billion R6 Credits, equivalent to over $13 million in real-world value. These credits, which can only be purchased with actual money, allow players to acquire new characters and cosmetic items.
Following the breach, players observed unusual in-game notifications, including messages unrelated to bans, which raised concerns about the integrity of the game's environment. Ubisoft acknowledged the hacking incident early Saturday morning, stating that it was "aware of an incident" impacting the game and was working on a resolution.
By Saturday afternoon, Ubisoft shut down both the game and its Marketplace while they addressed the issue. The company provided updates on Sunday, indicating they were rolling back the game to a previous state and conducting quality control tests to ensure the security of player accounts. The game was gradually brought back online late Sunday evening.
