Account hacking incidents involving PlayStation users are escalating, raising significant concerns among the gaming community. Recently, well-known podcaster and journalist Colin Moriarty reported that his PlayStation Network account was compromised after hackers exploited publicly available information.
This incident follows a pattern that began gaining attention in December 2025, when French journalist Nicolas Lellouche was similarly targeted. Lellouche's account was accessed after he inadvertently shared a purchase transaction ID on social media. Despite notifying PlayStation Support about the breach, he continues to face unauthorized access to his account.
Moriarty detailed his experience on social media, noting that he was aware of potential targeting prior to the breach. After struggling with the standard support channels, he managed to regain access through his connections at Sony. He expressed gratitude for the support received and is now committed to raising awareness about the vulnerabilities in account security.
The ongoing issue highlights a troubling trend where hackers are increasingly using basic information to infiltrate accounts, affecting both random users and prominent figures in the gaming industry.
