Mimecast has introduced a new API-based deployment for its e-mail security stack, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of its solutions in combating cyber threats. This move responds to growing concerns among organizations regarding the limitations of native security measures provided by popular platforms such as Microsoft and Google. According to Mimecast’s “State of Human Risk 2026” report, 64% of organizations are worried about these shortcomings, with 53% witnessing a rise in phishing incidents and 48% facing an increase in business e-mail compromise attacks.
The new APIs allow for rapid deployment of advanced security features without necessitating changes to existing mail exchange records. Mimecast’s architecture includes sophisticated threat detection capabilities, leveraging AI trained on data from over 42,000 organizations. Clients using these advanced models have reported identifying three times more business e-mail compromise and credential phishing attacks compared to previous methods.
Among the notable features are deep URL inspection for real-time threat analysis and multi-vector threat protection that combines various security signals. This comprehensive approach is designed to provide a more effective defense against evolving cyber threats, addressing the gaps left by current integrated cloud e-mail security solutions.
