On Monday, Foxconn, the electronics manufacturing leader, acknowledged a cyberattack that impacted its operations in North America. The company, known for producing devices for major tech brands such as Apple and Nvidia, stated that production at the affected factories is gradually returning to normal.
The ransomware group known as Nitrogen has taken credit for the breach, claiming to have acquired over 11 million files, including sensitive data from clients like Dell and Intel. This group utilizes a double-extortion method, encrypting data while also stealing it to demand ransom under the threat of releasing the information publicly.
Evidence of the hack was shared by the gang on their dark web leak site, showcasing images of confidential documents like product schematics and bank statements. Foxconn has yet to provide detailed responses regarding the specifics of the attack.
