Organizations are increasingly facing challenges from cyber threats, with only 40% of global enterprises successfully managing to contain and recover from incidents with minimal consequences, according to a study by Dell’s Cyber Resilience Insights. In response to the escalating risks posed by advancements in quantum computing and artificial intelligence (AI), Dell Technologies has launched new security innovations aimed at enhancing cyber resilience.
The company's layered defense strategy encompasses its entire technology stack, from personal computers to data centers, focusing on making devices “quantum-ready.” Key enhancements involve strengthening the foundational security of commercial personal computers, with improvements such as hardening the embedded controller (EC) to ensure that firmware updates are authenticated using advanced signatures resistant to future attacks.
Dell is also introducing an enhanced BIOS Verification capability that aligns with post-quantum standards, which detects tampering by referencing the BIOS against a secure trusted reference in Dell’s cloud. This system generates alerts for further investigation if any discrepancies are found. As organizations confront evolving cyber threats, Dell’s new features aim to fortify device security and improve overall cyber resilience.
