The latest report from Check Point Software reveals a staggering average of 1,968 cyber attacks occurring weekly worldwide in 2025, marking a significant 70% increase since 2023. This alarming rise is attributed to a notable shift in attack strategies that utilize automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and social engineering tactics across multiple platforms.
Among the nations, Singapore has become a major target, experiencing an average of 2,272 cyber attacks weekly in 2025, a rise of 17% from the previous year. The consumer goods and services sector in Singapore was the hardest hit, averaging 3,353 attacks weekly. Financial services and business services followed, reporting 1,632 and 1,588 attacks, respectively.
Lotem Finkelstein, VP of Research at Check Point, pointed out that the integration of AI has transformed attack mechanics, enhancing both their speed and complexity. The report also highlights the emergence of high-risk AI prompts in business workflows, with 89% of organizations facing such risks in a three-month span, indicating potential vulnerabilities as AI tools become more prevalent.
Moreover, the ransomware landscape is evolving towards a decentralized model, with a 53% increase in extorted victims and a 50% rise in new ransomware-as-a-service groups. Finkelstein urges businesses to reassess their security measures to combat these advanced threats effectively.
