The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued a statement on May 26, 2026, asserting that there were no security breaches related to its On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. The board addressed claims made by a social media user, who alleged that he had compromised the OSM portal, clarifying that the URL referenced was merely a testing site and not the actual evaluation platform for Class 12 exams.
In its response, CBSE explained that the portal used for grading answer sheets had a different URL, which remained secure and free from vulnerabilities. The board emphasized that the URL mentioned in the viral posts contained only sample data for internal testing and did not hold any real evaluation data or confidential student information. Furthermore, CBSE firmly stated that no security breaches had been identified.
The controversy arose after a user known as "Nisarga," who described himself as both a cybersecurity researcher and a Class 12 student, claimed to have found significant flaws in the system. His allegations prompted the board's clarification regarding the integrity of its marking system.
