TwitchSlotCars has launched a unique interactive racing experience that allows viewers to race slot cars in real time by using specific emotes in Twitch chat. Developed by user jazzcabbage321 over a period of seven months, this project utilizes a Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W, an L298N motor driver, and infrared break-beam sensors to accurately time laps.
The Twitch channel invites participants to engage with the race by spamming designated emotes to accelerate their cars. Each emote sends throttle commands via a TCP connection from a PC to the microcontroller, effectively turning the chat into a racing game. This innovative approach to live streaming harnesses the power of audience interaction, making it a distinctive entertainment option.
Viewers can tune into the channel to watch the racing action live or follow the channel for notifications about upcoming broadcasts. The project showcases a creative use of technology, combining both gaming and community engagement in a novel way.
