Kathleen Kennedy, the producer at Lucasfilm, has announced her departure from the company. She shared insights regarding several upcoming Star Wars films during a recent interview, revealing that multiple scripts are currently either in development or on hold.
Among the projects discussed, a script by Jim Mangold and Beau Willimon is paused, while Taika Waititi's work is still under consideration. Additionally, Donald Glover has submitted a script focused on Lando, and a collaboration involving Steve Soderbergh and Adam Driver is highlighted as promising.
While Kennedy did not mention the films by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Dave Filoni, she confirmed that Simon Kinberg's new trilogy is progressing, with a detailed treatment recently completed. The future of these projects, including their timelines, will now be determined by the new leadership at Lucasfilm.
As for immediate releases, The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Starfighter are set to debut this year and next, respectively, but Kennedy emphasized that decisions on future films will be left to the incoming team.
