Next week, Overwatch will launch its second season, titled Summit, which introduces a new character named Sierra. The game's developers have provided an updated trailer, although specific gameplay mechanics for this new hero remain undisclosed. Sierra is depicted as an ally of Ashe from the Deadlock Gang, as suggested by elements in the trailer.
Alec Dawson, the associate game director, previously indicated that Sierra would be a damage hero featuring a "really satisfying skill shot." The trailer offers glimpses of her abilities, including a homing dart attack and the use of a fully automatic rifle, hinting at her potential gameplay style.
While Sierra's introduction aims to revitalize the damage hero category, there have been concerns regarding the balance of previous hero releases. Recent characters like Anran and Emre have not faced the same issues as earlier heroes, such as Freja and Vendetta, who were often banned due to their overwhelming power. Fans had speculated about the possibility of Frankie, another character from Ashe’s Deadlock Gang, being introduced as the new hero, but it remains unclear if Sierra is a new character or a reimagined Frankie.
Overwatch's Reign of Talon season 1 is concluding soon, with a trailer premiere scheduled for April 8 at 9am PT.
