Riot Games has confirmed that it will lay off approximately 80 employees, which constitutes around half of the development team for its fighting game 2XKO. This decision follows the game's recent launch on consoles last month, as the company reassesses its workforce in light of player engagement trends.
Executive producer Tom Cannon noted that despite the game attracting a dedicated fanbase, it has not achieved the necessary momentum to sustain such a large team. The layoffs will not impact Riot’s plans for the competitive season in 2026, and the company will seek to reassign affected employees to other positions within the organization where feasible.
