On December 24, around 1PM ET, over 6,000 users reported issues accessing Steam, impacting their ability to use the game store and play online. The outage affected various services including the Steam Store and Steam Community, as noted by SteamDB’s status page. Valve's mobile apps were also rendered inaccessible during this time.
By approximately 4PM ET, the platform began to show signs of recovery, and by 6PM ET, the main clients for PC, mobile, and Mac had largely returned to normal functionality, despite occasional errors. However, some parts of the service remained slow, with many online games such as Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, and Counterstrike 2 experiencing partial outages.
This incident follows a previous major outage in October, which lasted an hour, and a notable disruption in September when the launch of Hollow Knight: Silksong caused widespread accessibility issues across multiple platforms.
