The multiplayer features of Stormgate, a real-time strategy game developed by Frost Giant Studios, are facing challenges as its server partner, Hathora, will cease operations at the end of April following its acquisition by Fireworks AI. This transition will result in a planned outage for the game's online capabilities, although the developers plan to implement an offline mode.
Stormgate's Kickstarter campaign was notably successful, raising over $2.38 million against a modest goal of $100,000. Despite early enthusiasm and positive previews, the game has received mixed reviews, with some features still under development, such as the terrain editor and co-op mode.
As of now, the game's peak concurrent player count has not surpassed 100 this year. Frost Giant Studios has not accepted the migration offer to Nitrado’s GameFabric, and inquiries have been made to the studio for clarification on this decision. A future patch may restore online play, contingent on finding new server support.
