Nightdive Studios has confirmed the remaster of the iconic 1998 game Thief: The Dark Project, which is set to include features from all previous versions, including the additional missions from Thief Gold. The announcement was made during the PC Gaming Show at the Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Originally developed by Looking Glass Studios, Thief is recognized as a pioneering title in the immersive sim genre, allowing players to approach gameplay without being restricted by scripted events. Players assume the role of Garrett, a burglar navigating a fantasy city while engaging in stealth-based tactics to achieve his objectives.
Stephen Kick, CEO of Nightdive Studios, emphasized the importance of Thief in shaping stealth mechanics in video games. The remaster aims to maintain the original's tension while adapting it for contemporary audiences, ensuring its legacy continues to impact future stealth games.
The remaster will also introduce various quality-of-life improvements, enhancing the gaming experience for both new players and veterans alike.
