Filmmakers Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein are set to revive the long-anticipated film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid under a new first-look deal with Sony at Columbia Pictures. This marks the latest effort to transition the iconic stealth video game into a feature film after numerous attempts dating back to 2006.
The duo previously achieved success with their horror film Final Destination: Bloodlines, which was well-received both critically and commercially upon its release in 2025. They expressed their excitement about bringing the unique universe created by director Hideo Kojima to the screen, acknowledging the challenges in adapting its complex narrative and characters.
Notably, the project has seen multiple iterations over the years, including a version announced in 2012, with Avi Arad producing and Jordan Vogt-Roberts attached to direct in 2014. Despite the history, with the current directors at the helm, the previous adaptation plans appear to be set aside.
