Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is now accessible to Mac users, marking its debut on macOS with an Apple Silicon-native version. This release includes enhanced features such as 4K visuals, a remastered soundtrack, and new animations, following an announcement made in late April.
The game is available for $34.99 on both Steam and the Feral Store, including all downloadable content (DLC). A version for the Mac App Store is anticipated to launch later this year.
Players can enjoy the base game which encompasses three expansions: “Lords of the West,” “Dynasties of India,” and “Dawn of the Dukes,” each featuring unique campaigns and civilizations. Additionally, the DLC offers new content, such as “The Last Chieftains,” which explores medieval history in South America.
Feral Interactive has also released a guide for newcomers to assist with the Mac version. Players will have options to engage in single-player campaigns, compete in Skirmish mode against multiple opponents, or collaborate in multiplayer campaigns rooted in historical contexts.
