Ironwood Studios, an independent game developer based in Redmond, Washington, has successfully secured $4 million in seed funding to support the development of its upcoming title. The funding round was led by Lifelike Capital and is expected to facilitate the studio's future projects.
The studio’s current game, Pacific Drive, was launched in February 2024 for platforms including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, and has achieved sales of over 1.5 million units. This innovative "driving survival" game places players in a science-warped environment where they must navigate challenges without traditional combat, focusing instead on resourcefulness and vehicle maintenance.
Cassandra Dracott, the CEO and creative director of Ironwood, expressed gratitude for the funding, highlighting the studio's enthusiasm for future projects. In addition to the game, filmmaker James Wan has acquired the television rights for Pacific Drive, although details about the adaptation remain scarce.
