Google has announced the rollout of its new feature, Play Games Sidekick, during the Game Developers Conference, enhancing the gaming experience on Android. The update introduces a drag handle for players to access an overlay that includes options to Capture Screenshot, start a screen record, enable Do Not Disturb, and stream to YouTube Live. Currently, the feature supports over 90 titles, with AI-generated game tips tailored to individual gameplay experiences.
Additionally, Google Play is set to implement Game Trials, allowing users to try out paid games risk-free with a “Try” button on game listings. Players can seamlessly carry over their progress upon purchasing the full game. The trials will soon be available for mobile paid games, with support for Google Play Games on PC anticipated in the future.
The “Buy once, play anywhere” pricing model will also be introduced, facilitating access to both mobile and PC versions of games. Titles like Moonlight Peaks, Sledding Game, and Low-Budget Repairs will be added to the catalog of paid games, complementing the existing free-to-play options. A new “PC” page in the Games tab will allow users to browse desktop titles directly from their Android devices.
