Starting April 2, the prices for multiple PlayStation products are set to increase significantly, marking a challenging period for gamers. The standard PS5, which includes a disc drive, will rise to $650, a $100 increase from its prior price. The Digital Edition will also see a hike, reaching $600 from $500 since August.
Most notably, the PS5 Pro will receive the largest increase, now costing $900, up $150 from its previous price of $750. Additionally, the PlayStation Portal handheld will see its price rise from $199 to $250.
In a recent blog post, Sony cited "continued pressures in the global economic landscape" as the reason behind these adjustments, emphasizing the need to maintain high-quality gaming experiences. This trend reflects broader issues in the gaming industry, as competitors like Microsoft and Nintendo have also increased their product prices amid similar economic challenges.
