The upcoming release of Dune: Part Three is set for December 18, marking the film's arrival in theaters just two years after its predecessor. This new installment draws from Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah, which was published in 1969, and takes place several years after the events depicted in Dune: Part Two.
Returning cast members include Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Javier Bardem, alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, who had a brief appearance in the second film. Interestingly, Jason Momoa will reprise his role as Duncan Idaho despite the character’s demise in the previous movie. The film introduces a new antagonist, Scytale, played by Robert Pattinson, who is expected to offer a more complex villain than the previous antagonist.
The tone of this film is described as a thriller, contrasting with the contemplative nature of the first and the war-centric second installment. Director Denis Villeneuve, despite planning a break after the second film, found himself inspired by new ideas for the sequel.
