In its first year since launch, DC Comics' new line, the Absolute Universe, has achieved impressive sales figures, with a total of 8.2 million copies sold by November 2025. The standout title, Absolute Batman, has garnered significant attention, accounting for approximately 35% of the overall success, translating to around 3 million copies sold. Its initial issue has reached an impressive milestone of 10 printings.
DC’s general manager, Anne DePies, attributed the line’s success to its unique continuity and a fresh approach that revitalizes classic characters without overwhelming fans. This strategy has reportedly resulted in better performance compared to previous relaunches like the New 52 and Rebirth.
Among the top five bestselling titles of 2025 are Absolute Batman #15, Batman #158 by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee, and Batman #1 by Matt Fraction and Jorge Jimenez. Additionally, Absolute Martian Manhunter, despite being less prominent, has received orders in the six figures, showcasing the diverse appeal of the line. The series is expected to continue as long as the creative teams remain engaged.
