Respawn has announced that support for Apex Legends on the original Nintendo Switch will cease following the release of Season 29, which marks the end of updates for the game on that platform. Starting on August 4, 2026, players will need to transition to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 or other supported platforms to continue playing.
The developer stated that all player progress, including purchases and earnings, will be transferable to the new console. This means that items like Apex Coins and cosmetics will carry over even if players acquire the Switch 2 after the cutoff date. This transition comes nearly five years after Apex Legends was first introduced on the Switch in 2021.
While the Switch 2 promises enhanced gameplay experiences, the announcement has been met with disappointment from current Switch users who may not be ready to upgrade. Players still have a few months to enjoy their time with Apex Legends before the official support ends.
