Google has announced a significant update for Workspace accounts that enhances user capabilities in managing homes and devices. This feature allows users to fully engage in home sharing, meaning that they can now invite others to their home or accept invitations to join existing shared homes.
Previously, users were restricted from inviting any accounts to control their homes, but this update facilitates easier collaboration among family members or friends. Additionally, Workspace users can now migrate their accounts to Nest services and set up devices like the Nest Learning Thermostat and the Nest Doorbell through the Google Home app.
Despite these improvements, certain limitations remain. Users with Workspace accounts are currently unable to access the early release of the Gemini for Home voice assistant, and specific features of Google Assistant continue to be restricted. Google advises users to utilize accounts they fully own, as access may be revoked by Workspace administrators if they leave their job or school.
