Belkin is set to discontinue support for its Wemo smart home products on January 31, 2026, marking a significant shift in the smart home technology landscape. The company originally launched these devices in the 2010s, but production largely ceased around 2022.
An email sent to users this week outlined that the Wemo app and its associated cloud features will be rendered inactive, leaving users with limited options. Devices compatible with Apple HomeKit will remain functional, but users must configure them before the shutdown date to ensure continued operation. Specific products that will still work with Apple HomeKit include the Wemo Smart Light Switch and Wemo Mini Smart Plug, among others.
Additionally, devices utilizing Thread will also maintain their functionality post-closure. Belkin has indicated that customers with products still under warranty after the shutdown date may qualify for refunds.
