The introduction of the “Lock Glimpse” feature on the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite has sparked concerns regarding battery performance. This feature, which alters the standard lockscreen to display a rotation of images linked to questionable content, has been criticized for its potential to drain battery life.
Despite being an optional feature, users report that the underlying app cannot be fully uninstalled, leading to privacy concerns. The application reportedly sends data requests to a dubious clickbait site every 24 hours, even when the feature is disabled. Some users have tried to eliminate the app using ADB commands, but this has resulted in the system attempting to restart it every few seconds, exacerbating battery drain.
Users are essentially faced with a dilemma of sacrificing battery life for privacy, a situation that many find unacceptable. Previously, inquiries about the partners involved with “Lock Glimpse” did not yield further clarification from Nothing.
