A widespread outage has disrupted functionality for users of the Nest app, affecting access to older hardware. Reports indicate that many Nest users are encountering an error message stating, “There was a problem connecting to the Nest service. Try again in a few minutes,” while attempting to use the app on both iOS and Android devices. This issue has persisted for several hours.
Over the last five years, the Google Home app has gradually replaced the Nest app for the majority of Nest devices. Google Home introduced mass-import functionality for older Nest gear late last year, allowing users to transfer multiple devices, including Nest Cams and the Nest x Yale Lock, at once. Despite the transition to Google Home, many users continue to rely on the legacy Nest app.
While the Nest status dashboard currently shows no reported issues, Google has yet to acknowledge the ongoing problems with the Nest app. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
