In a significant redesign, Google is updating icons across its Workspace apps, revamping the visual identity of key products. The new designs incorporate a gradient effect inspired by AI-powered features, moving away from the previous four-color scheme to achieve a more distinct appearance.
Among the changes, the Gmail icon retains a resemblance to its predecessor but adopts a more rounded form, with red as the dominant color. Conversely, the Drive icon simplifies to a combination of green, yellow, and blue, while the video calling app shifts to a yellow theme. Notably, Google Chat has a fresh look with a pill-shaped bubble, likely referencing its predecessor, Hangouts.
Google Calendar is reverting to an older design style, featuring classic blue while removing the four-color container. Additionally, the icons for Docs, Sheets, and Slides maintain a single predominant color. The overall update aims to provide a more modern and cohesive look across all platforms.
