The modular phone concept from Tecno features a minimalistic design at a thickness of just 4.9mm. This device allows users to customize their experience by adding various components, including camera modules and battery packs. During MWC 2026, Tecno showcased two sets of modular components in distinct colors, demonstrating an advanced stage for a concept device.
Among the components, a chunky telephoto lens offers 20x zoom capabilities, although it presented some glitches during testing. The addition of an action cam that connects via Wi-Fi expands functionality, while other modules facilitate Bluetooth and mmWave transmission. Additional features include a walkie-talkie module that enables communication without cell service.
Users can stack multiple battery packs, reaching a total capacity of approximately 10,000mAh, surpassing many current smartphones. The phone’s design lacks a traditional USB-C port, requiring users to attach charging modules instead. While the concept is intriguing, questions remain regarding the practicality of carrying multiple modules and the durability of the magnetic connections.
