Setting up the device is straightforward; users can add it through the Find My app without needing to download the SwitchBot app. By pressing a button on the Wallet Finder, they can choose a unique name and emoji for identification before placing it in a card slot of their wallet.
Unlike traditional GPS trackers, the Wallet Finder relies on a low-energy Bluetooth signal to communicate its location to nearby Apple devices, ensuring it remains locatable as long as someone with an Apple device is in proximity. The service incurs no subscription fees, and users can mark their wallet as lost using the Find My app, enabling others to access contact information for its return. The forthcoming iOS 18.2 update will enhance tracking capabilities further by introducing a shareable link feature.
