The launch of the Lumia 2 smart earrings on Kickstarter has successfully raised over $800,000, far exceeding its initial goal of $10,000. This innovative product, developed by Lumia Health in collaboration with researchers from Johns Hopkins, Duke, and Harvard, aims to address the limitations of traditional wearables by offering a compact health-monitoring solution.
The Lumia 2 is described as the world's smallest wellness wearable, resembling an earring back about the size of a coffee bean. It incorporates advanced technology, including a second-generation PreciseLight sensor and various health sensors, allowing it to track over 20 health metrics such as sleep patterns, heart rate variability, and blood flow.
Weighing less than 1 gram and designed to be worn continuously, the Lumia 2 offers users a discreet way to monitor their health. Its sensors are strategically placed behind the ear, providing reliable data by minimizing the effects of movement. The accompanying app, compatible with both iOS and Android devices, will facilitate tracking and logging of health-related activities.
