Samsung's collaboration with Perplexity aims to revitalize its voice assistant, Bixby, by integrating advanced AI capabilities. This innovative feature is expected to enhance user interactions significantly, especially with the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, set to launch next year. Reports indicate that the new functionality was discovered by a user on Twitter/X who received an update that enabled the Perplexity-enhanced version of Bixby.
Currently in beta as version 4.0.50.4 on One UI 8.5, this update includes improved responses to queries, such as weather-related questions. For example, while the standard Bixby lacks detailed replies, the enhanced version can suggest attire based on current conditions, including wind chill and forecasts. However, the broader rollout of this new feature has yet to be confirmed.
Despite these advancements, Samsung remains cautious about the pricing for the Galaxy S26 and continues to face challenges with its Galaxy Z TriFold and other products, as it recently reported financial losses in this segment.
