The latest update to Google's camera software, version 10.2, has introduced a new Panorama mode specifically for the Pixel 8 series, rolled out in early December. This feature guides users through a straightforward interface featuring dots and prompts, aimed at simplifying the photo-taking process.
One of the notable enhancements includes a level indicator that assists in capturing images without perspective shifts, which can occur when transitions do not align properly. Users are encouraged to rotate the camera while remaining stationary to ensure smooth stitching of the images.
Moreover, this Panorama mode can be utilized alongside Night Sight, which offers three settings: Off, Auto, and On. However, the feature is currently not available on the Pixel 7 Pro despite having the same camera update. The new Panorama mode draws on the device's HDR+ capabilities to generate high-quality stitched panoramas rather than relying on video capture, which tends to yield less data.
