Samsung is advancing towards the release of One UI 9, which is set to debut later this summer, following its shift to developing on Android 17. A recent leak has revealed new features for the operating system, which is being tested on the Galaxy S26.
One of the notable features is the “Tap to Share” gesture, which allows users to share files by simply tapping their devices together. This new functionality enhances document sharing, providing a step-by-step guide within the interface. Users can share images, videos, and files through compatible apps like Gallery and Quick Share, provided both phones are unlocked and properly aligned during the transfer.
Additionally, Samsung is introducing new Bixby widgets that will be accessible from the home screen, enhancing interaction through voice and keyboard commands. This move indicates a renewed effort to improve Bixby amid competition with other AI assistants. The official rollout of One UI 9 is anticipated alongside the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 later this year.
