The latest version 216 of the Phone by Google beta introduces a feature allowing users to record custom greetings for the Take a Message function. This addition aims to enhance user experience by providing a personal touch for missed calls managed by this service. Users will find a prompt on the Home tab to add their greetings, which can be accessed later in Settings under Take a Message.
This new functionality includes a dedicated “Greetings” page, where users can listen to the standard greeting or create new recordings. The interface is designed with Material 3 Expressive elements, enabling clips up to one minute long to be captured easily. Once a recording is made, users can pause and save their message, with the option to store multiple recordings, marking the active one with a star.
Currently, the custom greetings feature is rolling out in the beta version, with no availability in the stable release as of yet. The Phone app also continues to expand its capabilities, including international call recording and the ability to set personalized calling cards.
